Cornflower Blue Cornflower Chocolate

Cornflower

The cornflower is grown by us to add extra dimension to our natural confetti petal. We have grown it in four colours, cornflower blue, chocolate, red and white, and in 2012 we will be adding pink to our colour selection. The cornflower petal is very delicate, with fringed edges, and compliments the larkspur petal, not only by an ability to add different colours into your choices, but the shape gives a different feel and texture to the petal confetti.

The cornflower is also known as bachelor's button,  getting its name from its use as a boutonniere, a floral decoration worn by men, typically a single flower or bud. The word comes from the French word for buttonhole.

Cornflowers are symbols of very old traditions, a plant that has been grown in the cornfield, self seeding, a companion of cereal plants, it became a symbol of life and fertility reminding us of the cultural ebb and flow of mankind through out the centuries.

The cornflower has also been used as a symbol of tenderness, of fidelity, and of reliability.

It makes it very fitting that we are using cornflower as a real petal confetti to be used as a natural petal decoration for all celebrations, used in the knowledge that not only is it beautiful, natural and environmentally friendly, and that if symbolism is an important issue, the cornflower is a good omen.
